If you have been thinking about going solar in Florida, national home builder Lennar has a very enticing proposition just for you in Lakewood Ranch.

Located about seven miles east of I-75 and just north of State Road 70, Polo Run at Lakewood Ranch is the first solar gated community in Manatee County, but it is not the first residential solar energy project for Lennar, a developer that has already completed similar projects in Arizona and California. The single-family homes in Polo Run excel in terms of energy efficiency; they all have rooftop solar panel installations properly connected to the Florida Power & Light grid, which means that they are among the greenest properties in Lakewood Ranch.

Being able to purchase a new home with solar panels already installed is a great value proposition for home buyers. The panels generate electricity in the daytime; should there be unused residual energy, it is returned to the grid and the subscriber gets a discount from FPL. Those energy credits can be used at night. Considering that the average FPL monthly bill is higher than $125, these solar panel installations certainly make financial sense.

Lennar plans to build 500 residences at Polo Run; the floor plans come from three design series: Estate, Manor and Executive. The Estate series include the “home within a home” floor plan, which is perfect for large families with elderly relatives or adult children who need privacy and independence.

Pricing at Polo Run starts under $300K, but the strong appeal of solar panels installed in new homes will likely cause property values to appreciate very quickly. These are modern homes with features beyond the solar panels; depending on the configuration, some Polo Run properties may also include smart home automation for tech-savvy homeowners.

Polo Run is located in a very quiet section of Lakewood Ranch. Active residents will enjoy living near the Lakewood National golf course and the Premier Sports Campus. You can choose to visit the beaches of either Manatee of Sarasota County, which are less than an hour away, every weekend. A Publix supermarket is located just three miles away at the Lakewood Walk shopping center.
