Most equestrian communities in Southwest Florida are located well to the east of I-75 in the exurban sections of Sarasota and Manatee counties, thus placing them far from the beach, the downtown districts, and shopping centers. The Sarasota Polo Club is an exception in this regard. Located just a couple miles east of The Mall at University Town Center, the Sarasota Polo Club is near Lakewood Ranch where residents can enjoy the equestrian lifestyle at its finest.
Since 1991, the Sarasota Polo Club has been the center of equestrian sport in Southwest Florida. The outdoor arena is open to the public for Sunday matches from April to December, and this is when up to 600 horses are stabled in this unique and exclusive community. Within the 130 acres of this village, you will find 45 residential estates measuring at least five acres. All the homes are custom-built equestrian estates; some of them sit on oversize lots complete with their own lakes and expansive pasture fields.
The countryside ambiance of this exclusive neighborhood is irresistible. Tree-lined streets, greenbelt spaces, and horse riding trails are part of the amenities, which also include a clubhouse, veterinarian clinic, guest barns, an exercise track, and the various polo fields. Nearby attractions include the rugby pitch of the Sarasota Surge, the Legacy Golf Club, Waterside Place, and Main Street at Lakewood Ranch.
The value of lots at the Sarasota Polo Club have appreciated considerably in recent years; this has a lot to do with the development of the Waterside villages of Lakewood Ranch. In early 2022, five-acre lots were listed to at least a million dollars. A seven-bedroom estate with seven bathrooms built in the English Manor style was listed for less than $3.5 million in January. As can be expected from properties of this caliber, many of them feature extras such as large swimming pools, underground generators, GE Monogram appliances, modern barns with multiple stalls, summer kitchens, and more.
