Long before the West Villages project, builders and city planners in Venice worked together to develop neighborhoods that would not only provide high quality of life but also inject character into the community. In the mid-1970s, the Pinebrook district started construction to the west of the Capri Isle Golf Club, and development would continue for the next two decades.

The idea behind Pinebrook South has always been to provide a family-friendly atmosphere that would also appeal to the sizable snowbird and retiree community population of Venice; to this effect, suburban planners took advantage of the surrounding nature preserves to give Pinebrook South an Old Florida feel, something that would reflect the ambiance of Venice, and this starts with the architectural style.

Most properties in Pinebrook South are built in the Florida ranch style, which means that they have wide facades, low roof lines, open floor plans, and multiple entrances. The homes feel expansive; even with just two bedrooms and two bathrooms, you can expect more than 1,500 square feet of interior. As can expected, these homes have Florida rooms that connect to the interior by means of sliding glass doors, and many of them look out into greenbelt spaces.

Pricing in this neighborhood is very reasonable; you can find a three-bedroom home with two full baths listed for just $272K in August 2020. Some homes have private swimming pools and even private docking space at higher prices, but you can still find them under the median home value in Venice.

At the center of Pinebrook South you can find the community swimming pool, clubhouse, and shuffleboard courts. There is a scenic canoe launch next to the recreation center, and this is where you get you get the full Old Florida feeling. Curry Creek is not an artificial canal; it actually flows into Roberts Bay and is surrounded by nature.

Venice Beach is less than 20 minutes away from Pinebrook South. If you prefer a beach that is less crowded, check out the North Jetty just south of Nokomis Beach. Other attractions closer to the neighborhood include golf courses and Wellfield Park. You will find several shopping and dining options along East Venice Avenue, which is just a few blocks away.
