Casey Key is an exclusive section of the Nokomis real estate market. This narrow barrier island is one of the Sarasota Keys, and it features some of the most spectacular waterfront properties in Southwest Florida. Some of the elegant beachfront estates in Casey Key enjoy views of both the Gulf of Mexico and the Intracoastal Waterway.
With nearly eight miles of white-sandy beaches and less than 500 residents, Casey Key offers handsome single-family homes ranging from beach cottages to stunning Mediterranean-style waterfront mansions. Some of the properties facing Blackburn Bay have private docking space and small fishing piers. Nokomis Beach is located on the southern end of the island; this is one of the oldest public beaches in Florida, and it is a favorite among families. The strict zoning in this community guarantees homeowners maximum privacy and enjoyment of their properties.
Casey Key is split between two communities: Osprey to the north and Nokomis to the south. Homeowners who tie their boats on the bay side of the island can easily navigate to the Gulf of Mexico and to the Tampa Bay area; or, they can take the inland waterways to visit Oscar Scherer State Park and enjoy the beautiful Florida nature therein. Due to zoning restrictions, commercial business activity on Casey Key is mostly limited to beach resorts. To this end, residents must travel to the mainland for dining, shopping, entertainment, education, health care, etc; all it takes is a short drive north to Blackburn Point Road or south to Albee Road to connect to the communities of Osprey or Nokomis.
