Located between East Venice Avenue and Center Road, the Venice Golf & Country Club is one of the most interesting golf communities in Sarasota County. Prior to becoming a country club community, the 18-hole golf course designed by Ted McAnlis welcomed regional players in the 1990s, and it did not take long for the course to garner very positive reviews in terms of terrain maintenance, challenging play, and friendly staff. Once residential development started after the year 2000, the 587 properties sold very quickly to smart buyers who realized this was a great investment.
These days, the Venice Golf & Country Club is the reason many golf enthusiasts choose Venice over Sarasota, Palmer Ranch, Osprey, and other spots where they can also find properties built along fairways. The course was built on pristine Florida wetlands, and the ongoing commitment to nature conservation has earned it certification as an Audubon Cooperative Sanctuary. With more than 20 lakes and about a dozen sections managed as nature preserves, you have pretty good chances of spotting birds and wildlife in this community.
With three-bedroom villas listing as low as $225K in early 2021, the Venice Golf Club is an enticing proposition for smart home buyers. Many of the golf villas and single-family residences in this neighborhood have been lovingly maintained and improved over the years; quite a few of them feature private swimming pools, and some have extras such as summer kitchens and Florida rooms overlooking lakes.
Aside from the golf course, residents of this community also have access to a swimming pool, spa, clubhouse, and exercise center. A total of four tennis courts and nature trails complete the amenities. If you are looking for more entertainment, Caspersen Beach and the oceanfront Brohard Paw Park for dogs are just a 15-minute drive down Center Road. With regard to shopping, your best bet is the Jacaranda Commons Plaza, where you can find a Publix supermarket, CVS Pharmacy, a gourmet Mexican brewery, a British pub, and other suburban comforts.
