On more than one occasion, Sawgrass in Venice has been declared the top residential community by real estate columnists of the Venice Gondolier Sun, the newspaper of record for southern Sarasota County. This designation should not be ignored by prospective home buyers; after all, there are many fine neighborhoods across Venice, but Sawgrass certainly deserves to be recognized for its housing options and amenities.

The first thing you should know about Sawgrass is that many residents are golf enthusiasts who are also members of the Waterford Club. A total of 36 holes can be played across two courses designed by former NASA engineer Ted McAnlis. If you are looking for challenging golf play, you will find it here, but golf memberships are not mandatory at Sawgrass. When you move here, a complimentary social membership will be granted so that your and your guests can enjoy the amenities at the recreation center, which include a gym, swimming pool, greenbelt spaces, and tennis courts. In lieu of a full golf membership, you can also get discounts for tee times at the Sawgrass or Gleneagles courses.

More than 550 properties have been completed at Sawgrass since the 1990s, but this translates into a low-density neighborhood because the total land area is larger than a subdivision. If you would like to build a spec home or a custom residence in 2021, lots with nearly 10,000 square feet are available starting at $92K, and you can retain Neal Communities as a builder. The architectural styles follow the typical Sarasota residential design with Mediterranean details. You can find golf villas with two bedrooms as well as golf estates with four bedrooms, private swimming pools, and Jacuzzi tubs. Latest pricing will be found below if there is inventory.

The homes most recently completed by Neal Communities in Sawgrass tend to sell very quickly. Home buyers interested in becoming landlords are able to rent their homes for at least three months, and there tends to be high demand from seasonal tenants who enjoy playing golf and living just 15 minutes away from Venice Beach. By virtue of its location near Venice Avenue, Sawgrass is close to shopping centers such as Jacaranda Commons and Venice Commons, where you can find supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, pubs, and plenty of shops.
