There is a lot about the West Villages project that prospective home buyers may not be aware of. Even though most of the project is in North Port, it extends west towards Venice, and this is where IslandWalk is located. IslandWalk is a DiVosta Homes development; it closely follows the Blueways Trails initiative of the West Villages, which essentially consists of a network of lakes and canals similar to the legendary waterway system of Venice in Italy.

As its name suggest, IslandWalk is a community that evokes the feeling of living on an island. There are numerous lakes and nature preserves in this 860-acre neighborhood; even the Town Center is located along a lake for the enjoyment of residents and guests who want to spend a few hours in a waterfront spot with plenty of amenities. The resort-style pool is shaped like a lagoon and features a beach entry section next to another swimming pool complete with umbrellas, fountains, and a splash section for children. Additional amenities include basketball courts, fitness space for yoga and aerobics, tennis courts, and nature trails.

Since 2014, property values have at IslandWalk have gone through strong appreciation. Two-bedroom villas that were initially offered for less than $200K are now listed around $260K. Three-bedroom homes with three full bathrooms and more than 2,500 square feet of interior start around $500K. With all the development taking place around the West Villages, there is certainly more room for property values to rise here.

All the communities that form part of the West Villages project are among the best real estate investments in Florida. In the case of IslandWalk, its convenient location allows residents to drive just a few minutes beyond the gate to shop at a nearby Publix supermarket; in the near future, more commercial districts will open closer to the neighborhood. Another advantage of IslandWalk is that it is just 20 minutes away from the beaches at Venice and Nokomis; plus, it is also surrounded by various golf courses.
