Manasota Key in Englewood is as far south as you can go in Sarasota County; the rest of the island is part of Englewood Beach in Charlotte County. With less than 450 homes and only a few lots left to develop, Manasota Key is the kind of subdivision where you can find everything from Old Florida cottages to spectacular beachfront estates. This is the kind of housing market where writers attend retreats, biologists collect fossilized shark teeth, and parasailing enthusiasts gather to fly above the coastline.
As the most quiet and secluded of the Sarasota barrier islands, Manasota Key holds a strong appeal for families, seasonal residents, retirees, and real estate investors. The overall ambiance matches what you can expect from an Old Florida beach town, and there are ample opportunities for fishing, boating, or exploring the pristine coastline of various mangrove sanctuaries and nature preserves. This island also offers charming seafood restaurants, beach pubs, and plenty of spots where you can enjoy magnificent sunsets on the Gulf of Mexico.
Whether you live in the northern or southern sections of Manasota Key, you will never be far from neighborhood conveniences because the island connects to the Woodmere and Englewood districts of Venice, where you will find commercial strips and shopping plazas as soon as you cross the bridge.
As of May 2021, lots measuring one acre on the bay side of Manasota Key could be found listed for $840K, but a smaller lot not far from the southern bridge could be negotiated for just $325K. Every so often, a Florida ranch comes on the market for less than $500K, but such listings sell fast. One of the most opulent beachfront mansions was recently listed for $3.5 million.
