Mission Valley & Mission Estates in Nokomis : Homes for Sale

Nokomis is a housing market where you can find everything from Old Florida neighborhoods to waterfront subdivisions and from country club communities to equestrian villages; you can find the latter two at Mission Valley Estates and Mission Estates, which are located just south of the Mission Valley Golf and Country Club.

Whereas most equestrian neighborhoods in Sarasota County are located east of I-75, Mission Valley Estates is west of the highway and a lot closer to the beach. This community has a countryside ambiance despite being located near the North Venice suburbs. The lots in Mission Valley Estates are parceled to measure at least an acre of land, but many of them are larger to accommodate horse stables, pastures, and riding trails. If you are looking for spacious homes built on even larger sites, Mission Valley Estates has three-bedroom properties starting at $349K. Custom-built homes under development go for around $885K. Luxury country manors with five bedrooms and more than 4,000 square feet of interior usually start at one million dollars.

Mission Estates is located between the Mission Valley golf course and the Legacy Trail where you can ride your bike all the way north to Downtown Sarasota. Compared to Mission Valley Estates, the properties here are not as spacious, but they tend to offer more luxury extras such as designer kitchens, granite countertops, Mediterranean revival architecture with elaborate entrances, private swimming pools, and more. Prices start at $500K; even though this neighborhood is virtually inside the Mission Valley Country Club, memberships are sold separately.

Driving to Nokomis Public Beach from Mission Valley will take you less than 20 minutes, but you can also choose the beach at the Casey Key barrier island in Osprey or Venice Beach to the south. The Nokomis Village shopping plaza is about seven minutes south, and it offers everything from a Publix supermarket to drugstores, cafes, and restaurants. Plaza Venezia, a new and more stylish shopping center, is about 10 minutes away. If you enjoy the outdoors, Oscar Scherer Park and the Myakka River State Preserve are located nearby.
