Located north of the Pelican Pointe Country Club and east of Downtown, Sawgrass in Venice is the residential community attached to the Waterford Golf Club, a semi-private course that offers 27 holes of play. Construction in Sawgrass started in the 1990s right at the height of golf community development in Venice. In 2010, Neal Communities took over the project, and you can still find construction-ready lots for as low as $92K.

Sawgrass offers more than 500 villas, single-family residences, and golf estates. Floor plans range between 1,700 square feet for two-bedroom villas all the way to 3,400 square feet for four-bedroom homes with 2.5 bathrooms. The architectural styles vary from updated Florida ranch-style homes to Mediterranean revival; the latter design is mostly seen in the newer homes completed by Neal Communities in recent years.

If you are interested in building a brand-new home at Sawgrass, a 9,730 square feet lot was available in September 2020 for just $92K. A larger corner lot measuring 12,087 square feet was listed for less than $100k, and you can arrange construction through Neal Communities. A three-bedroom golf estate with three bathrooms, a designer kitchen, an extra den, an a private swimming pool overlooking a lake was listed for $629K in 2020.

Sawgrass is the kind of neighborhood that gets top reviews on websites dedicated to discussion of golf communities. A course membership is not mandatory, but social memberships are granted to all homeowners, which means that you and your guests will be able to enjoy the heated swimming pool, clubhouse, tennis courts, and numerous nature trails. You can keep up to three pets at Sawgrass, and you can also rent your property for a minimum of three months.

One of the advantages of living in Sawgrass is its strategic location just north of Venice Avenue. For shopping, you can choose between driving south to Venice Commons or the Jacaranda Commons shopping centers, both anchored by Publix supermarkets. Venice Avenue will also take you to Venice Beach, which is about 15 minutes away.
