Construction of Watercrest, a resort-like gated community in the eastern section of Venice, started not long after respected home builders Lennar and WCI Communities completed a business merger in 2017. The neighborhoods being developed under the new Lennar/WCI brand are spectacular, and they have managed to attract considerable attention from housing market analysts as well as prospective home buyers.
There are many reasons you should put Watercrest at the top of your house hunting list. First of all, the combined prestige of Lennar/WCI means that you can expect hurricane-resistant construction of the highest quality and with the reassurance of a solid builder’s warranty. Second, the location close to I-75 and Jacaranda Boulevard is one of the most convenient in Venice. Third, the overall design of Watercrest has been inspired by Caribbean resort, and this extends to the architecture, amenities, and landscaping. Finally, this neighborhood is managed under a homeowners association regime that takes care of maintenance and grounds-keeping.
At Watercrest, housing options start with elegant two-bedroom villas that provide at least 1,400 square feet of living space; many of these homes offer lake views and nice extras such as French doors, crown molding, screens on all windows and lanais, Nexia smart home automation, wood casing details, and more. Pricing starts under $275K, but you can also negotiate Lennar’s “Home within a Home” floor plan, which offers five bedrooms and three bathrooms, for less than $500K; this is a 3,231 square feet property with a separate living area for elderly relatives or adult children.
Just outside the gates of Watercrest you can find amenities such as Cracker Barrel and BrewBurgers. There’s a Publix supermarket plus a CVS Pharmacy just down the road at the Jacaranda Commons shopping center. When you want to head down to the beach, East Venice Avenue can get you there in less than 20 minutes, but you can also have fun within the neighborhood at the clubhouse, which features a resort-style swimming pool, gym, poolside bar, clubhouse lounge, and shuffleboard court.
