The golf country of Sarasota County spreads across Laurel, Nokomis, Osprey, and North Venice; this is where the Waterford Golf Club is located, and it is the only community where the course features three unique and challenging configurations. If you are a passionate golf player, the Waterford Club offers a total of 27 holes with various tee placements, but there is more than golf to enjoy in this community.
Located just west of I-75, between Laurel Road and Border Road, the Waterford Golf Club began construction in the 1990s. Over the years, the main golf course was expanded to offer greater challenges and more playing configurations. Later, a Sports Club and clubhouse complete with a restaurant were added, and the number of properties grew to more than 600. About half of the homes in Waterford are golf villas that line the fairways; the rest are single-family residences arranged near wetland preserves, and many of these feature private swimming pools.
Living at the Waterford Club means having easy access to superb amenities aside from golf. The Waterford Sports Club offers basketball, volleyball, tennis, and a modern fitness center. The community swimming pool has a spa and Jacuzzi section. When you feel like being active in the outdoors, the Pinebook Fit Trail is right around the corner, and the same goes for the Curry Nature Preserve. The beach at Nokomis is just a little over 15 minutes away, and it gets less crowded than Venice Beach.
In 2025, you can expect pricing at Waterford to start around $300K for golf villas. Do not be discouraged if you do not see available listings; this is a fairly large community where motivated buyers can enter the market at anytime, and it is not unusual to find three-bedroom homes listed for less than the median price in Venice. Finally, the convenience of the Plaza Venezia shopping center, which is just down the road from the southern entrance, cannot be ignored; a new Publix supermarket opened in recent years, and there are plans to expand surrounding commercial districts in the near future.
