The name Bellagio brings to mind an extremely picturesque village in the Lombardy region of Italy as well as a magnificent casino resort in Las Vegas; in Sarasota County, Bellagio is the name of the only gated community located on Venice Island, and this is where you can find incredible homes at very reasonable prices in 2020.

Construction of Bellagio started in the year 2000 after careful evaluation by the Venice Architectural Review Board. Since the neighborhood is just a few minutes south of the Historic Downtown Venice district, the developers had to adhere to a certain design sensibility. If you are familiar with the Spanish Colonial and Mediterranean revival styles, you already know what to expect from Bellagio: Spacious homes with decorative touches such as entrance columns, courtyards, French doors, tiled roofs, kitchens with center islands and wood cabinetry, covered lanais, and panoramic windows. Some homes have private swimming pools while others are located right on the canal that separates Venice Island from the mainland.

Bellagio is a resort-style neighborhood where residents enjoy amenities such as tennis courts, a fitness center, a swimming pool with clubhouse, and a nature area complete with nature trails for exploration. On the water side of Bellagio, a foot trails connects with East Venice Avenue and the Venetian Waterway Park, which offers more than eight miles of paths for walking, running, and riding bicycles.

Even though Bellagio consists of only 142 homes, the neighborhood feels as expansive as a subdivision thanks to its numerous greenbelt spaces and the mature landscaping. Listings as of June 2020 start at less than $450K, and this is an excellent value when you consider the quality construction, neighborhood amenities, and excellent location. Bellagio is just minutes away from Venice Beach, and the Historic Downtown District, but other attractions include Centennial Park, the Venice Performing Arts Center, and the various marinas of Roberts Bay. The Venice Shopping Center, which is less than five minutes away, is anchored by popular stores such as Publix, Bealls, and Dollar Tree.
