Located just east of Fort Hamer Road, not far from the River Wilderness Golf and Country Club, River Woods Parrish is an established neighborhood dating back to the 1990s. Similar to the nearby River Plantation community, River Woods was developed with River Wilderness members in mind, which means that the floor plans and amenities have a certain flair to make them unique and very appealing.
There are less than 260 homes in River Woods; they are surrounded by mature oak trees and lush Florida vegetation that provides plenty of shade and privacy. Walking around this neighborhood is a pleasure, particularly if you start at the gazebo near the clubhouse and follow the boardwalk all the way to the banks of the Manatee River. This is a place where residents can invite guests over to enjoy a swim, a tennis match, a stroll down nature trails, or coffee with snacks at the clubhouse.
River Woods is where home buyers can find spacious floor plans with curb appeal provided by a nice interpretation of the Mediterranean revival style. In mid 2025, a three-bedroom home with two full bathrooms, a two-car garage, granite countertops, and a nicely screened lanai was listed for $415K. With regard to shopping, you have three shopping centers anchored by Publix supermarkets within 10 minutes of River Woods: Parkwood Square, Silver Leaf, and Lakewood Ranch Gateway. The latter will probably be your best choice because it is a straight drive south on the new Fort Hamer Bridge, which also connects you to State Road 64 and a chance to drive west to Holmes Beach in about 45 minutes.
