Snead Island in Palmetto : Stylish Homes for Sale in Manatee County

Many film directors who wanted to portray the cinematic essence of Southwest Florida have chosen Palmetto as a filming location. Great Expectations, Out of Time, and Spring Breakers are some of the Hollywood productions that have been partially filmed in Palmetto; more specifically, Snead Island has been chosen for scenes that highlight the natural beauty of Florida’s Gulf Coast.

Snead Island is a relatively small housing market within Manatee County; it is comprised of approximately 800 residential properties, most of them single-family homes. The Old Florida vibe is quite strong on this island, which can only be reached from the 10th Street Bridge or by boat, and it is only a few minutes west of the historic Downtown Palmetto. In terms of architectural styles, you can find everything from Key West homes to Florida ranches and from waterfront Tuscan mansions to modest Mediterranean revival houses.

There is only one gated community in Snead Island, Amberwynd, and it is filled with spectacular homes complete with private docking space, but other sections of the island face canals or the Terra Ceia Bay, which means that this is a good place to look for waterfront real estate. Outside of Amberwynd, you do not have to worry about deed restrictions because this is an unincorporated area.

A very attractive aspect of Snead Island is reflected by the excellent conditions in which all properties are kept in. You can find a fully remodeled Florida ranch with three bedrooms and two bathrooms listed for less than $360K in June 2021, and we are talking about a property located just a couple of blocks away from a marina. Snead Island is home to the Bradenton Yacht Club as well as the Emerson Point Preserve, which is a pristine coastal park where you can enjoy wildlife viewing, kayaking, bike riding, fishing, and swimming at a small beach area.

The seclusion of Snead Island stops once you cross the bridge into Palmetto, where you can find shopping districts all along 10th Street; plus, you can drive to Downtown Bradenton in about 20 minutes.
