Country Club Shores was developed in the 1960s as an amazing engineering project with boaters and anglers in mind. In essence, every street in Country Club Shores is a cul-de-sac that connects with Gulf of Mexico Drive; along with the mature tropical landscaping of the neighborhood, these dead-end streets and the canals between them maximize privacy.

Initially, most properties in this neighborhood were Florida ranch-style houses, and a few of them are still around, but the majority have been turned into Mediterranean estates, Key West homes, Modernist mansions, and a few other styles. Of all Longboat Key neighborhoods, Country Club Shores enjoys one of the best locations. Being at the southern end of the island means having easy access to Golf, St. Armands Circle, Lido Key and Downtown Sarasota. The beach is just a short walk away, and you do not have to leave Longboat Key for shopping or dining because the Shoppes of Bay Isles, which feature a new Publix supermarket and CVS Pharmacy, are just five minutes away.
