Aqualane Estates combines two of the most desirable aspects of Sarasota real estate: a waterfront location and proximity to the beach. Located on the north side of Stickney Point Road and west of the Tamiami Trail, Aqualane Estates is a “West of the Trail” neighborhood that seems to have been developed with boating and fishing enthusiasts in mind. There are about a hundred homes along the three deepwater canals in this community; a few properties are right on the bay, and many feature private docks, piers and lifts for larger vessels.

The prime location and gorgeous views enjoyed by Aqualane Estates residents make this a very desirable neighborhood. Some properties date back to the 1960s, but they have been extensively renovated over the years. The residential architecture styles range from Florida ranch to Mediterranean revival, and a lot of custom building has made this subdivision very attractive. Aqualane Estates is not a gated community, but since most of its streets come to a dead end, traffic is limited.

This neighborhood is ideal if you are in search of spacious properties. Lot sizes start around 12,000 square feet; a three-bedroom home with two full bathrooms and 2,055 square feet of interior was listed in late 2018 under $750K, this is a property that includes a private dock and swimming pool with sundeck that can be accessed from a lanai. For about $875K you can negotiate a four-bedroom home four bathrooms and a garage big enough to park three vehicles.

Boating and fishing are the main amenities enjoyed by residents of Aqualane Estates; however, there are many nearby attractions to explore. Phillippi Park is just a few blocks to the north, and a few cafes and casual dining eateries are located along Tamiami Trail near the Sarasota Pavilion shopping center, but the more interesting restaurants are on Siesta Key Beach, which is less than five minutes away.
