Ballentine Manor in Sarasota is a historic neighborhood that is actually part of Manatee County. Located to the west of the Tamiami Trail and north of the University of South Florida, Ballentine Manor is an exclusive and unique community that was originally developed with luxury in mind; when the neighborhood was initially platted in 1925, the developers established certain covenants related to lot size and architectural design to ensure that every property would be built as a luxury estate. In just a few decades, Ballentine Manor became known as one of Sarasota’s most desirable neighborhoods, and this is still the case in 2019.
What sets Ballentine Manor apart is its elevation. Although this neighborhood has quite a few waterfront estates, many homeowners whose properties are not by the water enjoy gorgeous views of the Sarasota Bay. Unlike many gated communities in Southwest Florida, Ballentine Manor features a nice diversity of real estate architecture. Initially, homeowners were restricted to Spanish Colonial, Venetian and Moorish styles, but this covenant was later relaxed for the sake of variety.
