Coral Cove Sarasota is a neighborhood that was developed for the specific purpose of attracting military veterans returning from World War II; the idea was to entice them with large waterfront lots where they could enjoy boating, fishing and the magnificent sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico. These days, Coral Cove is an established and very enjoyable seaside community of single-family residences and imposing mansions.
If you are in the market for a spacious, Florida ranch-style home dating back to the late 1950s, Coral Cove offers quite a few options that have been lovingly remodeled over the years. Fixer-upper listings are not common because Coral Cove is known as a community where homeowners are very protective of their real estate investments. A three-bedroom Florida ranch with three full bathrooms and a two-car garage was listed for $375K in late 2018; a similar property right on a canal with private docking space and small pier was listed under $500K. A few million-dollar mansions come on the market from time to time, and they sell quickly.
Coral Cove is managed by a friendly civic association that collects very reasonable annual dues for maintaining the community park and public boat ramp as well as landscaping of green areas. A fishing pier with picnic benches allows residents and their guests to enjoy sunny days, and this is where you can spot the dolphins and manatees that swim the Little Sarasota Bay.
Residents of Coral Bay do not have to travel far for shopping or entertainment. A commercial district is located a few blocks away along the Tamiami Trail, and the Westfield Sarasota Square mall is five minutes away. Driving to the beach at Siesta Key takes seven minutes, but you can also choose the less crowded beach at Nokomis, which is just 15 minutes away.
