Located near the northwest corner of the TPC Prestancia Golf Club and south of Clark Road, Gulf Gate is a quiet subdivision that will make you remember of better times in the Sarasota real estate market. If you are not particularly interested in modern gated communities with their copycat Mediterranean architecture, Gulf Gate provides a nice break with traditional Florida ranch-style homes from the 1970s built on very generous lots. Only a few neighborhoods developed with this architectural style are still around in Florida, which means that Gulf Gate will be a historic subdivision in a couple of decades.
Gulf Gate in Sarasota is perfect for home buyers looking to raise a family. Most of the 400 properties in this subdivision are single-family residences built at a time when large lots and plenty of interior space were the norm. It is not unusual to find a two bedroom home with more than 2,200 square feet of living space on a lot that is larger than 17,000 square feet.
Moving to Gulf Gate means that your children will be able to ride their bicycles around the neighborhood or spend sunny afternoons safely playing in spacious yards, and it also means living next door to a modern county library, city parks, churches, the Legacy Trail, the Gulf Gate Golf Club and the Gulf Gate Village shopping and entertainment center. Most of the properties in this subdivision have been remodeled various times over the years; many of them feature modern hurricane shutters, backup generators, swimming pools, summer kitchens, playgrounds, and vegetable gardens.
As of summer 2018, the most affordable listing at Gulf Gate was $274K for a three-bedroom and two bathroom home. A few of the properties are located near ponds and canals that offer water views. Visiting the dazzling white sands of Siesta Key is a matter of driving less than 15 minutes.
