The Meadows in Sarasota : Diverse Condos, Villas & Homes for Sale

One of the most interesting neighborhoods in Sarasota County is located just south of the University Park district. The Country Club at The Meadows in Sarasota is a very large residential development that has everything home buyers look for in a neighborhood: privacy, convenience, amenities, a great location, and plenty of real estate diversity.

Construction at The Meadows started in the early 1980s with a plan to develop a country club that would appeal to all lifestyles. While there are plenty of golf communities and country clubs in Sarasota, The Meadows is unique in the sense that it strives to be more neighborly and mindful of residents who may not be fully interested in golf.

There are dozens of neighborhoods at The Meadows; some offer condominiums and attached villas while others offer single-family homes and spectacular golf estates. With more than 3,400 residences at The Meadows, anyone would expect to find dozens of real estate listings available at any given time, but this is not always the case. Homeowners at The Meadows tend to hold on to their properties; even seasonal residents are know to keep their homes for decades.

As of mid-2018, a three-bedroom home with two bathrooms, covered lanai, portico, custom cabinetry, granite counter tops, wet bar, and many more extras was listed for less than $320K. Larger properties with views of the lakes and fairways are similarly priced, and some of the most upscale golf estates can be listed closer to a million dollars.

Many of the neighborhoods at The Meadows have community swimming pools, but residents with country club memberships can also enjoy the main swimming pool next to the clubhouse, which boasts pro shops, a lounge, game room, fitness center, and three restaurants. The wetland preserves and green areas can be explored by means of a network of nature trails that cuts across 14 miles of The Meadows. Two of the golf courses are for members while the third is open to the public.

The Meadows even has its own shopping village right at the center of the country club; for even more shopping and entertainment, The Mall at University Town Center is just a couple of miles to the north. Driving to the beach and to Downtown Sarasota takes about 20 minutes.
