Bayview Heights in Sarasota offers Attractive Homes for Sale

As the oldest neighborhood in Sarasota, Bayview Heights has plenty of history, prestige and attractive real estate. The oldest home still standing in Sarasota was built in 1874 on Pleasant Place, just a couple of blocks away from the Sarasota Bay oceanfront; one street to the west, Colony Place is a street that is still paved with bricks instead of asphalt.

Bayview Heights is a community known to attract home buyers in search of spectacular homes. There are just over 60 single-family residences in this neighborhood, and they tend to be very spacious because their lot sizes date back to the 19th century. Quite a few of the residences are two-story homes with balconies that face Sarasota Bay for a nice waterfront view.

Historic homes that have been immaculately maintained and renovated over the years tend to sell very quickly in Bayview Heights, but some listings have been developed as recently as 2003. The diversity of architectural styles, prime location, mature landscaping, and overall prestige make this neighborhood very active in terms of real estate sales. As of early 2019, some of the highlight listings in Bayview Heights include a two-bedroom Old Florida bungalow from 1926 and priced at $625K. The homes at the end of Bayview Drive are million dollar waterfront mansions.

Residents of Bayview Heights do not have to travel far for shopping or entertainment. The upscale shopping district just south of Sarasota Memorial Hospital is within walking distance, and the same goes for McClellan Park. Nearby parks include the Marie Selby Botanical Gardens and the Arlington Park Aquatic Complex. St. Armands Circle and Siesta Key Beach are just five to ten minutes away. Two public schools, Southside Elementary and Brookside Middle, are also within walking distance.
